I am asking for my friend, he is a dependant of his spouse who is main applicant under FSW. They both landed and got their PR cards last year. But his spouse has came back to France to finish her study afterward. Their long distance relationship did not work out and they are thinking of divorcing. He has came back to Malaysia for his job. They are concerning if they got divorce, would it have any impact on his status, and his future citizenship application if he decided to come back to Canada later ? Thanks all

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Since they already landed as PR's, their divorce will not effect their PR and they do not even have to inform CIC about it. He should however think about that the PR residency obligation involves staying in Canada at least 2/5 years so he can spend a maximum of 3 years outside and then he will have to return to Canada if he wants to have a chance to keep his PR and later qualify to apply for citizenship.
