Hi everyone! I have searched throughout the forum and it seems that most people suggest that a nickname should be declared in the application when it is used let's say professionally. For example, in my case, I had companies where my nickname was used in my email: Jake instead of Jacob. The same is true for my social media accounts, most importantly, LinkedIn where I use Jake as well.

Because I am declaring this nickname, the application requires me to upload a "Legal Name Change document". Has anyone encountered this before? Would an LOE explaining that this is just a nickname be enough as a substitute for this document?

Thanks and I hope someone can enlighten me.

I don't see why you need to declare a nickname. Most likely just complicating things. The important name is the name on your passport and educational documents. Short forms of names and nicknames need not be declared.
