Hello friends.

My wife and I were married in 2011. We have a marriage certificate (certified copy) that shows both of our names prior to marriage. We are both US citizens and US residents. In the express entry document checklist, it requests proof of her legal name change.

In the US, she just took our marriage license to the Social Security office for a name change and they provided a new Social Security card (with the same SSN) but with the new name. We don't have any official documentation stating a name change, since it's not done by a judge.

What documentation should we produce for this upload requirement? All of the documentation I could find online seemed to be for people coming from India, including "one and the same" affidavits with information about local customs.

Is a marriage certificate and a copy of the old and new Social Security cards (with the same number) enough? Is there some document we can request from the Social Security Administration showing proof of the legal name change instead? If we know what to ask for, we may be able to get that.

Thanks!
