Legal aid lawyer vs private lawyer

I have a legal aid lawyer and I got a feeling that he is not doing anything for me. I have been here for almost one year and a half. He never called me nor asked for any additional documents. My hearing court was delayed last April and I did not get a new date yet.

I would like to hire an immigration lawyer from Toronto. Who had this experience before and had good results? Or, Is it the same? Do you think a private lawyer will be able to get me a new date soonest? Any ideas GUYS!!!!

I don't think private lawyer will have better chances to expedite the process but if you think your legal aid lawyer doesn't respond truthfully you can hire your own lawyer.

I think you can ask for different lawyer. At first, try to email the lawyer (paper trail) and ask for status update, wait for the answer and then you can talk to the legal aid office showing them that you have tried contacting your lawyer without response.
