I am a US Citizen, married to a Canadian, and here on a TRV. We mailed our outland PR application last week, and at the end of this month, I have to travel to the US. My question: will I have problems returing to Canada, if I have to tell the Immigration Officer that I have applied for PR? Should I tell the IO about the PR application?

My husband is extremely worried about my being refused re-entry. His colleagues have been telling him horror stories about couples being permanently separated due to problems with Immigration upon trying to re-enter Canada. I'm worried about this too.

If any of you have left and re-entered Canada while an outland PR application is in progress, I would very much appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you.

You do it at ur own risk.

CIC may or may not find out that you have left the country all depending on which border crossing you use and how nice the CBSA officers are at that POE.

Always be 100% honest. I can not stress this enough. Falsifying can jeopardize your application.

My husband came and went several times during our application, with little hassle. Just make sure that you buy a round trip ticket each time and have proof of the intent to return before your TRV runs out. We used his lease at his home in England.

Best of luck.
