Hi,

My partner (canadian citizen) and I (Working Holiday open work Permit good till December 2025) are looking to apply for an outland family sponsorship visa in the coming days. We have all the evidence put together, but what gives me pause is our plans to go back to my home country (commonwealth) to visit family for around 3 weeks. I also have a very good dream job I would like to keep in Canada.

Just some specific questions I would love answered:
- When we apply for spousal sponsorship, will my Working Holiday Visa still be active (and allow me to leave and come back) or automatically cancelled at some early stage?

- Once I receive AOR, can I even apply for a Spousal Sponsorship work permit while my Working Holiday Visa is still active?

- Should I expect to get denied entry/some sort of fuss on return for having an active application + an old (but still good) visa?

- Should I just wait for us to return before applying for spousal?

Just confused and worried about this step and would love some straightforward answers to alleviate my fears :)

>>active till the day you become PR, if it expires before that you have to apply OWP to maintain your temporary status and authorization to work

- Once I receive AOR, can I even apply for a Spousal Sponsorship work permit while my Working Holiday Visa is still active?
>>yes and i'd recommend to apply for it

- Should I expect to get denied entry/some sort of fuss on return for having an active application + an old (but still good) visa?
>>no, especially if you apply as outland

- Should I just wait for us to return before applying for spousal?
>>no, you can apply as soon as all the documents are ready
