I applied for an extension to my temporary visitor status and am still waiting for the application to be processed. I've now decided to leave Canada, but I'm worried about arriving at the airport and them seeing I've stayed past the stamp in my passport and thinking I'm here illegally. Does this happen? Will providing a copy of my application be sufficient to prove my implied status?

But how would they know? You stay a bit late but leave anyway; if they don't check on your way out, how do you get a record?
They *can* check, via airline passenger lists and international information sharing agreements. They just don't usually bother, unless they are *really* interested in you.Fillerbunny said:
