Leaving country while waiting for visitor visa extension

The title say it all. I would need to leave the country to see family but I didn't receive my visa extension yet. When I come back, (i know a visa is not valid for reentry but they did make me reenter on it once at christmas) will they use the same visa, emit a new one, or maybe i will have receive my extension but it will be in canada so i won't have it with me yet. Will the officer know if it was emit or I apply for extension or they don't have that informations ? Or I just shouldn't leave until I receive my extension.

As soon as you leave Canada, your visitor status expires anyway. So it doesn't matter if you wait for your extension or not.
