Leaving Canada while work permit is being renewed

Can you leave Canada and wait/work from abroad while the work permit renewal application is being processed and then re-enter once the work permit has been renewed? I heard it takes up to 90 days to after filing an online in-land application to receive a decision. I know that I can't probably re-enter from the day my current work permit expires until my new one gets issued.

i wouldn't risk it unless u have a travel visa and even then. You never know these immigration people can be funny , a misunderstanding between you and your immigration officer at customs can cost you alot so just to be sure id sit tight
