Leaving Canada in process of getting citizenship and expired PR

Hello! I would like to go outside of Canada in May of 2017.My PR card expires on March 31, 2017 and just a few days ago I got the receipt from CIC about starting my citizenship application so it can take up to 12 months. If you're in process of getting citizenship, you can't apply to renew your PR card. What should I do to be able to come back to Canada after my vacation? Thank you

Why would you not be able to renew your PR card while your citizenship application is processed? The only time you can't renew is of course once you took the oath but you are still in process so you can apply to renew your PR card.
