If an international student takes a leave of absence for more than 150 days--staying outside of Canada during all of that time--and their existing study permit remains valid, can they return to Canada on that same (unexpired) permit even after more than 150 days? Basically hoping to verify that their existing study permit would not become invalid after a leave of more than 150 days.

Yes, you should be able to enter on same TRV and resume studies on same study permit, provided neither has expired. You must keep handy all the documentation from school confirming the Leave of Absence.

One thing to consider is the PGWP, you might become ineligible due to extended LOA. There are no clear guidelines in operation manual so it does fall in a grey area and would very likely be dealt on a case by case basis.

You need to speak to your school about whether they will approved an authorized leave of absence and for how long. Schools are finally going to have to show IRCC who is actually registered and attending school.
