Hi,

I have the following problem:

I am still in possession of a valid work permit until 1. November 2009 (Youth Mobility Program). The employer I worked for from 1. November '08 till 1. June '09 offered me a job starting at 1. October '09. Currently, I am in Germany but plan to travel to Canada soon to start working at the given date.
Therefore, I need a work permit for the time AFTER 1. November '09.

I know the process (obtain QAC/HRSDC confirmation -> apply for work permit) but the problem is the following.
It is sure that I have to leave Canada at 28. October '09 for about a week for a business trip.

So, my question is:
If my work permit application is still being processed at the 28. October '09 when I leave Canada, will it be continued or will I have to re-apply when I re-enter Canada a few days later?

Thanks in advance for your help.

D.

It will be processed, but you will not be able to work when you return from your trip.
see: OP 11

"A temporary resident with implied status who has left Canada may:
• be allowed to re-enter Canada as a temporary resident, pending a decision on the renewal of
their application to study or work in Canada, provided they are TRV exempt as per R190 or on
a multiple-entry visa. They may not resume work or study in Canada until their application for
renewal has been granted.
For those not able to resume work, they must satisfy the BSO that
they have sufficient means of support. (Note that this applies to foreign nationals who are
TRV exempt as per R190(3)(f) and to those on multiple-entry visas"

Ok, if I understand right, since I am German, I am TRV exempt as per R190
(cf. http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/showdoc/cr/SOR-2002-227/bo-ga:l_9-gb:l_5/20090911/en#anchorbo-ga:l_9-gb:l_5).
Therefore, if I have a pending work permit application, I can leave and re-enter Canada and still the application does not become void.

Sorry for the nit-picking but I just want to be sure that I don't make any mistake. It's a jungle out there! ;)
