A group of lawyers have successfully negotiated a 90-day halt on a government plan to return some 280,000 Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) applications and $130 million in associated processing fees.

Lawyers would be definately worried, the unsatisfied applicants may ask the lawyers to pay full or part of fee paid to them. I dont think any govt performing some sovereign function would be much bothered by class suit. The government would have definately gone ahead with the plan after consulting with the legal department. The lawyers of applicants can definately talk with the government but the govt is not bound by the representations of applicants lawyers.

well said, i agree and have been saying the same !
slightly OT, there are some agents on this forum, who are coaxing applicants to approach a particular lawyer. I dont wish to take take names. But may be, the lawyer would have offered them some kind of referral incentive.
