Late visa application for mother-in-law??

Hello all, thank you for taking up your time to view and address my question.

My mother-in-law recently came from Russia to Canada to look after our new-born. Her Multiple (V-1) visitor visa was issued on June-18-2014. She landed on September 5th-2014 and based on a 6 months stay she is supposed to leave on March 5th.

However, we would like to extend her stay for an additional 2 months. I know that CIC requires a 30-day application period and we are certainly behind as of today. Is it still possible for us to send an application to extend her stay? Or any other method that will let her stay for an additional 2 months? Please kindly provide us with your suggestion.

Thanks again..

The 30 days is a guideline - not a rule. As long as the extension application reaches CIC before her current stay expires, it's fine.
