Last Name Change (Marriage) After PR Received

Hi All,

My wife recently received her PR card with her maiden name but has now assumed my last name and has updated her drivers license, health card, SIN.

What is the best way to go about changing her PR card name to match? Is it best to apply to change her foreign passport first and then apply to update the PR card? Can both the PR card and passport be updated in parallel?

Is it even necessary to update her PR/Passport at this time? Not sure the best way to attack this so it doesn’t make international travel difficult while things are in flux.

you cant change PR card if u do an assumption of last name. You would need to do a Legal Name Change. That is the best method when changing names. I do know that in some provinces you have to wait 1 year before doing it. But its better if all Provincial and Federal documents all match same name.
