Last date for CEC under old rule

I qualify for CEC....can I still apply till December 31, 2014...I dont want to take chance with the new express entry system

Your application has to physically reach CIC by December 31st to apply under the old rules.

Is CIC working the 31st? If there's no special reason to wait until the very last day try to send it before Christmas day. They are going to be very busy days for Canada Post and couriers, so they may 'lose' a couple of packages.

Even if it says applications receievd by dec 31st but im not sure with all the christmas, boxing week and year end vacations.. if a file would be received on 31st, if CIC would work on 31st.. so its better to have a little buffer and sending by 23-24th Dec should make the cut.. anything after that could be very close.

I would suggest to use UPS and Fedex for fast tracking courier as Canada post is also busy in December.

If you can tell the Fedex/UPS that you need to deliver your courier but don't need physical sign on courier. Otherwise, they will take another day if they can't find anyone at CIC office in Nova Scotia.

Hello...thanks for the replies....I just wanted to check whether just reaching of the physical application before December 31, 2014 is enough or should I also get the AOR by December 31, 2014 to confirm that the application will be processed as per old rules??

It needs to received at CIC by Dec 31 (it will be date-stamped). Keep in mind that by the time CIC gets to opening your application, the quota could be filled. So while the old rules will apply to your application, the old rules include a limit on the number of applications accepted for processing, beyond which your application would be returned. Not trying to overly alarm you - I say go for it - but just keep in mind that is a possibility.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply....I have sent my application today and expect it to reach by December 18, 2014...I hope they accept it and not return it by saying that they will now only accept Express entires

As per op25a:

"Note: Applications are date stamped upon receipt at the CIO and then checked for completeness in order by date of receipt. The “application received” date at the CIO is the lock-in date. Processing offices should therefore maintain the application received date from the time of the applicant’s initial submission to the CIO, and process the application to conclusion."

With the holidays, sooner is better.

last date for cec under current rule is 31st dec 2014 but note :-this is the day when cic receive your file so you need to apply 2 days prior to this date
