Hi everyone,
I hope someone can give me a PRIZED advise on this question that I have:
My family and I have already received our visa and "CONFIRMATION OF PERMANENCE RESIDENCE FORM". In the item 15 of the FORM, it has this note (exactly as written in form):

15. FULL NAME, ADDRESS AND REALTIONSHIP OF PERSON WILLING TO ASSIST:

TORONTO
ON DEST: 3812

My question is, does this means that we need to have our landing at Ontario and have our address (or residence) at Ontario where our PR cards will be sent to? We actually doesnt have anyone or any address to give in Ontario, and since we have a friend in Alberta who is willing to lend us their address, we plan to give my friend's address in Alberta. We plan to stay in Ontario for a month then just fly to Alberta when the PR cards arrive, and leave again since we plan to permanently settle after 2 more years.. Would this pose any problem? Thanks and looking forward for any advise.

I don't think it will pose a problem. In some cases, the IO wants to know that you will be at the address in question when the PR cards arrive so no problem.

Thank you so much LEON for your answer, I'm truly grateful!.... one more question though, how about the application of my my SIN and other ID's/docs such as driver's license, banks, etc.. Can I do it while I'm in Toronto but my address will be Alberta, or should I apply them in the place/province according to the address that I have given, which in my case will be Alberta?

Thanks again! ;)

You can apply for a SIN anywhere, it is fast, you get the number right away and the card in about 2 weeks so you can do that in Toronto. Opening a bank account in Toronto can also be done but there are certain inconveniences with having a bank account in a bank in a city where you do not live, that is if you decide to live in Alberta later on but it is not a problem to open another account later if you want to. I recommend TD as your bank.

Drivers license can take a while depending on if you have to take the test. Do you have a drivers abstract from your drivers license authority in your country? How many years driving experience? If you are not planning on staying very long this time, it might be a better idea to leave the drivers license until later. You know, to get a Canadian license, in most cases you have to give up your old license and if you are not moving to Canada for 2 years, you probably still need it.

Thanks again LEON! You’re really a great help!

I’m actually coming from Dubai, and have my driving license for 7 years now. Yes I’ll be having my driver’s abstract when I enter Canada, probably by mid this year. However I will definitely consider your advise not to apply for a license if it would cancel-our my existing license, since I’m not settling yet...

May I sum up your advises, just to make sure I have understood it all correctly ;D

--Though my Landing papers indicate Toronto Ontario as my destination, I can land in Toronto yet give my friend’s address in Alberta as my mailing address for my PR card.

--I can apply for all my other ID’s in Toronto, even though my declared mailing address is Alberta.

Thank you so much!!! ;)
