My husband is going to be landing in Toronto on Nov. 9th. I am a little bit nervous since this is my husbands first time travelling outside of India, so with that in mind I have to ask a couple of questions. When he gets off the plane in Toronto I assume he will go through customs first and then immigration? Will the customs officer tell him where to go? He is only bringing two bags and a carry on, no goods to follow. He is bringing clothing, movies, books and hard drive from his computer and video camera, sweets and tea. So he has to fill out the B4 form and give a value of his things along with serial numbers on his camera and hard drive?

I apologize if this has been asked before, I just want to make sure we dont miss anything so things will go smooth from our end. Just hope the officials are in a good mood. My husband is landing at 6:45 am so hopefully not many landing at the same time so it can go fast.

thank in advance

The customs officer will not tell anything. They will not even stop him i guess. They might ask if any goods will come, i mean shipping. If he says no, he can proceed to the immigration. Its just on the way to immigration. So your husband should not have a problem moving to the immigration. Questions will be asked in the immigration about the value of goods and stuff. I dont think there is any necessity to worry about. i think its enough if he just asks if he should give the value of the camera. if they say yes, ask him to give it in canadian dollar value. Its simple...

Check the food stuffs he may be bringing with him. Some IO's are very strict about stuff like that but tea and sweets sounds fine, but I do have an Indian friend who tried to bring spices with her and she had leave them at the airport. Maybe if you call the airport in advance and double check?

There will be no problems landing at all, this part of the immigration process is the best part. Usually takes about a hour all in all. The officials at the border will direct him to where he needs to go, as and when. Having that shiny visa in his passport is the most important thing.

I am very excited for you, nearly there.
