Hello people,

I will be landing early April, and I just have soem doubts about the proof of funds requisite and other things.
I depend economically completely on my sponsor, who sends me money weekly to cover my and our daughter needs. I dont work or anything since I have been taking care of the baby at home.
Is there any specific amount I need to bring there? will it look bad I dont bring too much since I will obviously be living with him once I land in Canada, and he is the one providing the housing, food, etc...?
Also my flight stops at Peasson Airport, but that isnt the final destination. Will this be the place where Im considered to be "landing"? or will it be the city that is my destination?
How long does it take the process?
Anyone sharing experiences at that airport?
Thank u!!!

From what I know, for family class sponsorship, there is no requirement to show proof of funds. I have heard at least one person mention that they had trouble because they didn't have it though.
Anyway, you should have some money with you. Just in case. You never know what might happen and if you show up at the border with $10 only, they'll probably be worried too.

I believe you will be landing at Peasson Airport. That is assuming you will go through customs when arriving there. I think different airports are organized differently. With some, they never send you through customs and direct you straight to the international terminal. Others make you go through customs. I know when I was switching planes in Toronto, I had to claim my bags, take them through customs and then check them back in as I was continuing to Vancouver. In such a case, the landing would be done in Toronto.
I'm not sure where you will land, but to be on the safe side, assume it will be at the first airport in Canada and allow enough time to do the landing before having to continue on to your connecting flight.

Thank you for the answer. I'm not planning to bring just enough to buy me a coffee :) but maybe just a few -and I repeat a FEW- hundreds... I understand it is always good to have a decent amount in case of anything. My final destination is Calgary, so from Pearson airport I change planes to Calgary and there us a 2 hour gap between flights.
How long does it take the landing procedure?
I'm asking cause at Pearson, my mother in law, aunts, cousinds etc will be waiting for me and my baby to just get to meet us even if it's for just nearly an hour.
Also, do I have to prepare a list of my belongings prior to the flight? Or is it something done at the arrival?
I will be travelling with my baby who is a Canadian citizen. The airline requires a written authorization from my bf saying I'm taking her for us to be reunited.will I need to do the same for costumes Canada?
Thanks a lot
