landing process

hi all, i'm a little confused about the landing process..

am i right to assume everyone applying under CEC is already presently working in canada? why is there a need to leave canada and come back as a "landed immigrant"?

doesn't the CIC website say: If there are no problems during this final step, the officer will grant you permanent resident status. The officer will also confirm your Canadian mailing address. Your permanent resident card will be mailed to you at this address.

can someone please tell me who needs to go through this "landing" process?

you dont have to cross the border to land. you can make an appointment and do in canada.

There are two options, one being getting an appointment at the immigration office and the other being doing a flag polling (border crossing)

The first option generally takes time since atleast in Toronto the appointment wait time is 2 months or more. I did the flag polling at Niagara falls rainbow bridge and it took me 20 min.

You have to do the landing process so your passport will be stamped for entry and the officer will give you the PR confirmation

3rd option is to leave Canada and visit your homecountry ;D
Please note there is a expiry date on travel visa that is issued by CIC office ( that took your pasport for immigrant visa) / this applies for us entry too.

To update your timeline;
At the top go on profile and then on left menu go on forum profile information.

i saw the option under the help section, but in mine it only says:

Modify Profile
Account Related Settings

and that is it... do i have to post a certain number of posts before being able to update this info?

btw got AOR today what happens next? wait for another email for ECAS?

you got AOR in 1 month? ..thats AWESOME. Next they will request for Medical and if needed additional documents for further processing.
all is done via e-mail.

yep pretty lucky! i think many july applicants got CC and AOR after a month~~ check out our thread~~
