Dear

If i take travel insurance for family, after arriving in Canada - if this insurance is valid till delivery time, will it cover the entire costs of maternity ?

In general what is the total cost i can incur for having a baby delivered if for some reason insurance doesnt cover it ?

Thanks

Here is a recent post about medical expenses for delivery in Ottawa:

I still think you should land in Alberta and stay there for at least 6 months if you want free health care. Albertan winters might be harsh, but at least you don't have to complicate yourself juggling about financing maternity cost and private insurance policies for the OHIP waiting period in Ontario.

Just to add - travel insurance will NOT cover maternity / delivery costs. This is because pregnancy is classified as a pre-existing condition.

Dear

Is there any insurance in toronto that can cover maternity costs for pregnancy, knowing that its a pre existing condition ?

The premium will be higher but how much will it be ?

Will it be as high as the actual costs I were to pay if i just pay cash ?

Thanks

No - there is no insurance policy that will cover maternity costs (or if there is, the premiums would have to be higher than the cost of paying everything yourself). Insurance companies are in the business of making money and for this reason it wouldn't make sense for them to offer a maternity policy where they pay out more money than they receive in.
