landing in Toronto and going onward to Calgary

Hi All,

I am traveling to Calgary in June. However, I am planning to land in Toronto and then take a domestic flight to Calgary.

In that case, do I need to complete the PR formalities in Toronto and then go on to Calgary?

My dilemma is that the flights are really full right now and I am able to find tickets going via Toronto. And taking a domestic flight to Calgary would mean landing at a Domestic airport.

Would that be against the AINP rules in case I complete landing formalities in Toronto and go onward to Calgary? and would they even let me complete landing formalities in Toronto in case I show them that I plan to go to Calgary with the same day or two?

Could someone please clarify urgently?

Also, do they ask questions about when do you plan to move to Calgary? I would need to come back to India and then wind up things from here.

Would that delay getting the PR? Or could they ask me to re-apply for PR when I officially move to Calgary?

Could someone please respond to my questions?

Thanks in advance,

If you fly to Toronto first, landing will take place in Toronto (not Calgary). Make sure you have enough time between arriving in Toronto and departing for Calgary to land. Three hours would be good.

From your response, does that mean I would finish up in PR formalities in Toronto because my first landing will be in Toronto on an Int'l flight?

According to AINP for Alberta, I was told that my landing formalities should be completed in Alberta? Hence the confusion.

Yes, you will have your PR formalities in Toronto because this is your POE. As for AINP for Alberta, you need to show your connecting flights to the official at the airport.
