I wonder what the landing deadline is, because I have some unfinished business in my home country.
So, when should I as a principal applicant arrive in Canada when and if I get a PR? And what about my dependent, what is the time limit for him?
You both need to land less than one year after your medicals. Your CoPR will give you a date.
Just because you land, you do not need to stay. You can stay for a few days, direct your PR card to be sent to someone in Canada who can send it on to you (in that case, you give their address as yours) and go back home to finish up business. You will need your PR card to re-enter Canada, but you don't need it when you are inside Canada. To keep your PR status, you need to be able to show that you were inside Canada at least two of the next five years. So you have some time to go home and arrange things, then come back to live.
You could also stay in Canada long enough to set up things like your SIN and a bank account, even start a job search and stay 3 months until your PR card arrives and THEN go home to finish things there. It's all up to you once you have completed your landing within the prescribed time.
