Hi all,
This is probably one of my last posts here - I just wanted to share my experience landing in Aldergrove (BC) on July 27.
First of all I live in Vancouver, BC with my partner who is Canadian. Up until landing and becoming a PR, I was on a closed work permit.
On Saturday July 27 in the morning, we drove down from Vancouver to the USA. We left from Vancouver at 7:00am and crossed the border at the Peace Arch port of entry.
We specifically decided to enter the USA and not to flagpole. A couple of reasons for that:
We looked online for the waiting time at the border and noticed that there was a 2.5h lineup at Peace Arch to re-enter Canada. We decided to drive to Aldergrove (1h drive) and cross there instead.
Landing in Aldergrove took less than 5 min. The officer asked for my COPR and passport and the whole thing was done in no time. He also asked for my work permit and shredded it. He did not ask for any other documents.
I highly recommend Aldergrove as a place to land if you have a car and need to land on a weekend day!

We specifically decided to enter the USA and not to flagpole. A couple of reasons for that:
- I will travel to the USA often in the future and do not want to have to explain an administrative refusal every time I enter the USA
- I am from a visa exempt country, meaning that I can enter the USA without a visa. Therefore flagpoling has very limited value for me.
