Landing in AB rather than in ON for TRV, is it okay?

Hello Everyone,

My TRV has been approved already.
I said I will visit ON in my TRV application but my circumstance changed and I want to visit AB instead.
Will that be fine?

Thanks to everyone for your replies!

hi TOAidy,

Thank you for your reply, very much appreciated.
I thought I should travel to ON per my application.
I am relieved now.
My visa has an expiry until August, so I can make some more money for the travel before my travel.. :D

You're welcome :D

Don't forget that no matter what date you decide to go, make sure that you leave Canada by your VISA expiry date.

May I make a correction here :) - the visa expiry date does not mean until when you can stay in Canada.
The visa expiry date is until when the visa can be used to enter Canada (valid to be used to enter Canada).

Length of stay is determined by either the end date in an issued visitor record, or 6 months from date of the stamp in your passport given at CBSA/Immigration.

/all the best....

You are right. Thanks! It's been a while since I last stayed as a visitor.

hi ragluf and TOAidy,

Thanks to the both of you for clarification.
Another question:

I am a Filipina, would you know the trend of how long the officer at the port of entry allow an Asian to stay in Canada?
I am checking for flights and confused on my return flight (good for 1 month or 2 months).
But I will purchased a Round trip ticket with rebookable return flight.. :D
Im just curious about how long the officer would stamp my passport.

Thanks!

Kabayan,

There is no trend per se for visiting nationals of other countries on the duration of stay. You should be fine - just answer the initial queries of the officer (what is the nature of your visit etc.) and be clear about your intentions on visiting, and your itinerary (if asked). Typically it is 6mos - as for duration - see this:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/arriving.asp

The officer will stamp your passport or let you know how long you can stay in Canada. The period is usually six months. In some cases, the officer may limit this period to cover only the intended purpose of your visit. Ask questions if you are unsure about anything.

You will be fine.

/all the best...

Hello ragluf,

Thank you.
I have another question.
Can I apply for multiple entry visa from within Canada?
I have single TRV now and planning to go there on May or June.
Thanks a lot!

If you are here as a visitor, you may not be eligible to get a new TRV within Canada - (for some reason I cannot paste links here)...Go to the CIC mainpage (cic.gc.ca) and navigate to "Visit" and see "Apply from Within Canada"

If you are currently a temporary resident in Canada with valid status (that is, a valid study or work permit), you can now apply for a new temporary resident visa to return to Canada before you leave.

You can apply in Canada if you are:

•a legally admitted temporary resident (student or temporary foreign worker only) in Canada with a Canadian residential address;
•your current temporary resident status is still valid, and your existing counterfoil is expired and/or was valid for only one entry; and
•you require a new temporary resident visa to return to Canada in the near future.

thanks ragluf.

Me and my bf are planning to get marry in Canada.
He is a cook and it is a skilled job.
Can I apply for open permit right away after we received our wedding certificate?
Suppose I am admitted for 6 months as a visitor, do you think I will be able to get my open permit via that route?
Thanks once again, I appreciate your input.. :)
