Dears,
First, thanks a million for your absolutely useful forum.
My query is; I stated in my application documents that my intended destination will be Toronto, ON, but I’ve decided to change it to Calgary, AB.
Do I need to e-mail the CIC or make any official steps?
Do I need to land in Toronto first and apply for the PR, SIN, medical cards in Toronto or I can land directly in Calgary and finish my landing procedures in its airport?
How about reserving a flight which lands in Toronto? Can I tell them simply that my settlement city will be Calgary and then I issue my cards from Calgary?
Thanks a lot..

1. No.
2. No.
3. No, you "land" at the first airport on entry to Canada, you apply for the SIN where you are residing.

Thanks a lot PMM..
I'd like to check one thing more, if I received my cards from a province, they will be valid in the other provinces of Canada??
The Medical Insurance Card specifically, will be valid allover Canada?
Your efforts and help are much appreciated…

PR Card is valid everywhere. SIN is every where.
Medical Insurance is only for the province.

Yes, you can apply for health insurance in any province. However, keep in mind that to be eligible to apply, you must be living in that province 6 months a year or more. If you apply for health insurance, use it and then leave the province without staying 6 months in your first, year, they could conclude that you were never eligible in the first place and backcharge you for what they paid for you.

If you make sure you stay at least 6 months, there is no problem. Calgary will give you a health card right away if you are moving from overseas. If you stay 6 months, then move somewhere else, you can use the health card from AB for the first 3 months you live in the new province but after that, you have to get a health card there.

Dear PMM

is it possible to land in alberta and apply for health card then leave to come back after a couple of months (6 months) then at 2nd landing we would stay 6 months , would this cause any problem or breaking of laws if we get health card and stay at the 2nd half of year after landing?

thanks

As long as you stay 183 days in a 12 months period, there won't be any issue.

You will get the clearance from Leon also since it's mentioned in the government website :p. Following is the link:
