Hello,

I am landing in 2 days. I have made a list of items I am going to bring with me and a list for goods that will be following. I have an onward journey for my vacation outside Canada quite soon after landing. Here are my questions…

1. Are there 2 different forms for goods accompanying me and goods to follow? If yes, what are they?

2. Since, I am going on Vacation, I have purchased some gifts, how do I declare them is there any separate form for that? If yes, which form?

3. I will also be taking the things (that are accompanying me during the landing process) back with me for vacation . I will be bringing the same things again when I decide to settle down, should I include those in the Goods to Follow as well?

4. In the goods to follow, there’s an importer’s address field, should I write my current address or the Canadian address?

I am totally confused and I’ve been sweating it out on these for almost a week. Please shed some light to take my steps towards right direction.

Are you landing as a Permanent Resident or a Skilled worker visa?

If the later, a fair waring to you is that if you were to leave the country (Canada) after a few days of landing, without receiving your PR card, you'd have a problem entering back the country. Unless, you come from a country of origin that doesn't need a visa to enter Canada.

1. Use Form B-4. this can be used for both goods that you are traveling with and those that will come at a later date. the CBSA officer will stamp the form upon your arrival, and then you take the copy of the stamped form to clear your shipment once it arrives.
2. If the gifts are of value, you can declare them on the same form. there is no limit to the amount of things you can bring in at this time, so don't worry about that.
3. Again, if the goods you are traveling with are valuable, it's better to put them on the form to ensure you are not taxed on them once you return to Canada after your vacation.
4. Write your own address (or the address of someone you will be staying with) in Canada.
