Dear

I will be landing for 1- 2 months initially working part time and then leaving.

Do I need to file taxes for that calender year in canada, I stayed less than 6 months but I did get some income, is there a threshold for income above which I have to file taxes etc ?

Say I made about 2000 cad in those 2 months I stayed in canada, do i have to file taxes ?

Thanks

1. It is a good idea. If you worked, you probably had taxes taken at source as well as CPP. So you would probably end up with a refund of any taxes paid.

Thanks PIMM

How would i end up with a refund though ?

Is it because the CPP would be refundable ?

If i was taxed on my pay , then it would have been taxed at the appropriate prevailing rate right, then why the refund ?

The tax rate for such a low income is 0%. But often you will be taxed assuming your payment is extrapolated over a full year. So basically anything that was taken off your paycheque, you should get back.
