I have immensely benefited through this forum and would like to share my recent landing experience at US-CANADA peace bridge border.
I have kept all Canada related documents in one packet including B4 forms (aka Good accompanying and good to follow) and US return related docs in another pocket.
At initial basic security check counter I told we are doing landing and was asked to go to immigration section after basic check on passport & COPR.
The immigration office asked 2 copies of COPR per person and the passport and asked where do you currently stay (we had I-94 in our passport) and how long we are staying in Canada. Told purpose as landing and we shall be back in few months wrapping up things in US.
Asked if we have been in Canada before and if so, any conviction or deportation
Told we were in Canada before.
IO took my Canadian address (friend's) and said PR Card would arrive in 6-8 weeks.
Added that as I am a citizen from visa non-exempt country if we are coming back within this timeframe by road, it shouldn't be problem but if by air, I would need PR Travel document.
Whole landing process was barely 10 mins, where we signed the documents, IO processed the COPRs, stamped , passport, attached the COPR in PP and we received "Congrats, you are now PR".
Took stamped copies of goods to accompany list to cash office and they generated certificate, which we shall use whenever we bring the goods without paying import tax.
Next we went to Service Canada in Niagara Falls and got our permanent SINs (Were advised that actual card would take 15-20 calendar days) and they took our old expired SINs
Went to the Canadian bank (we kept the account active) to update with new status & SIN.
CIC status is now completed and line added that says became permanent resident in Fort Erie Peace Bridge on this date.
