The time we had been waiting for over a year, came yesterday. We landed in Toronto Pearson airport and now we already have an apartment to live for a short period of time. I wanted to make this topic in order to explain exactly what happened at the time of landing.
- landed and got off the plane
- went to passport control. There they check your passports/papers (like every other passenger) and they send you down the aisle to immigration office.
- there a very polite and knowledgeable officer took our papers and asked for the address where we would like our permanent residence visa to be sent. If you don't have one yet, just ask for an address for which you fill out when you get a permanent address and send it to them. Your PR will go there in 6 weeks. There were 3 more families waiting there at that time. There was checking of our funds for landing.
- Then we passed from 2 counters where they see your papers and give you leaflets and booklets with important information about adapting and immigrating.
- Then we claimed our baggage, called airport taxi service ($60 without tipping) and went "home"
Very fast and easy procedure. Good luck to you too.
