Landing by BUS

Hi Everyone,

First.. Thanks a lot to all and evry question/answer in this forum that helped us prepare for our landing, which went quite smooth.
I guess not many do their landing by bus. But wanted to put it out there for info just in case someone needs.
We took the 'MEGABUS' from Buffalo Airport and did our landing at the Peace Bridge. It took about 25mins for the process and the bus waited for us (evryone in the bus had completed their immigration in about 10 mins).

The IO asked our PP, COPR, POF, address in Canada and said it will take about 8 weeks for the PR card to arrive. Our passports were stamped with entry date and the the copy of COPR stapled to PP.

The Goods Accompanying and Goods To Follow papers were processed and stamped by another officer.

Next day, we applied for our SIN number at the Services Canada office. It took about 40 mins to receive the number and the officer said it will take 4 weeks to receive the SIN card.

Later, we realized that, during landing, the IO did not ask our pictures for the PR card. She took our address and said will take 8 weeks for it. Will we still receive the PR cards or will they ask for it later (in about 8 weeks when it comes up in queue for processing)?

Can we now send the pictures to any office?

My IO at landing did not ask for photos either - but there is one attached to the COPR and I believe when you sign that document, that is in effect what becomes your PR Card, that photo/signature there.

Family Problems

Hi. I had my family moved in Canada last November 2010. Unfortunately, my daughter who turned 18 one week after they arrived didn't seem to be happy with me. She has work now and still living under my care. She has caused me so many problems emotionally and as a mom, I've decided to deport her back to the Philippines for good because it causes me stress and happiness. And she is not happy as well. She told me she's very desperate with her life in Canada? What steps I needed to do? Please help...

1. You can't deport her, she is a permanent resident of Canada.
2. In most provinces she is considered an Adult, when she turns 19 she will be an adult in all provinces, so she can make decisions for herself either good or bad.
3, Sounds like you and her should attend some counseling.

Please give her some time. There are many changes in her life, as well as in yours, and being a teenager is not always easy (as far as I remember).

Slowly, she will make new friends, will attend school and will build dreams that involve Canada and not her homeland.

There are many opportunities here and once she will discover them, she will wish to explore them and subsequently appreciate them.
