LANDED..........
in Calgary since March 29, 2012. Landed as PR May 3, 2014
I have a quick question regarding landing at the Alberta-Montana border.
My common-law spouse is really busy at work right now and didn't have a day off for 1.5 months. He won't get a day off within the next few weeks either but I have to land as a PR within the next 3 weeks (received COPR today).

Can I cross the border by car without him? The car is registered in his name, we are both on the insurance and he would write me a permission letter to cross the border. Would this be enough? Officially I don't cross the border. I will just flagpole.

Do you think I will have any issues when I bring these three documents (registration, insurance, permission letter) with me? I would land at the CIC office here in Calgary but the waiting time for landing appointments is too long. And last-minute fights are too expensive

I don't even think you need the permission letter. They MIGHT ask, "whose is this car"? Just say it's your husbands. Like you said, you're not crossing the border, you're just getting turned around there.

Perfect, thank you.
He is more worried than I am ;)

Congrats on getting your COPR! And good luck with your landing! (I don't wish you "good luck" because I think you'll have any problems...just because I hope everything goes flawlessly and that you're a PR soon.) :)

Thank you :-) I will probably drive there on Saturday :-)
