my wife will be landing in Canada sometime in November with Toronto Pearson as the POE. I'm currently in Toronto.

her English is not the greatest and she does not want to go through customs alone.
I want to be there with her when she go through the landing process.
Now, I don't really want to fly somewhere just so I can go through customs with her.

Is it possible for me to request to enter the airport to assist my wife with the landing process? has anything like this been done before? Who would I ask to inquire? Immigration? Border Service?

English should not be a problem as long as she can communicate and answer basic questions from the Immigration person i.e what is the purpose, where you are going to live and with whom etc etc......Make sure she got all the papers and documents in place and in order with no corrections to be made at the Airport. Also tell her to carry your address and cell number with her and she can call you from inside if any problem arises....

There are thousands of Chinese,Arabs,French,Asian immigrants who enter into Canada whose english is not that good..I am Canadian and travel on work and I helped in filling out the Immigration Forms in the flight for few times to the people who does not read and speak English...So just be cool.....

I dont think and never heard before that anyone can request and enter into the Airport or Immigration area to assist ones wife/parents while entering on Immigration or on Visa....

Just as Tahsin said, it shouldn't be a problem. Make sure she has all the paperwork. Immigration officers are not bad at all. I can tell you from experience, she is not dealing with US Immigration here..lol...Canadians are a lot better.

cheers

No - definitely not possible.

You'll either need to fly in with her or let her go through immigration alone.

It shouldn't be a problem for her to do alone. When I landed at Pearson, there were "facilitators" (my word) who spoke several languages going down the line and asking persons if they needed language assistance. It was late at night, there was a huge backlog of flights and there were a lot of us clearing Immigration, I saw persons from several Asian countries receiving assistance, and at least one European country. She should be OK on her own, but if you want to go through with her, you definitely will have to be coming off the flight too.
