Me and my spouse will be landing by air in Vancouver on the Jul 2, 2016. We have a COPR (a temporary visa stamp in our passports). My questions are:

1) I am landing on a Saturday at the airport, can all the formalities be completed at the airport itself on a weekend?

2) I intend to give my relative's address in Canada (for the mail-out of PR). He will then forward it to my address ( I live in the US). I intend to return back to US on Jul 4th, 2016. Can I do that? In other words be in a Canada for 2 days and come back to the US while I wait for my PR. I have a valid visa status in the US.

3) As far as the list of documents that I need at landing time, I found this link
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/landing-in-canada-all-you-need-to-know-t36735.0.html
Is it accurate?

You can land anytime - immigration are open 24hours. Yes, you can land then return to the US and await your PR card being sent by your relative. The list of documents depends on what category you got PR under. For FSW, you will need proof of funds but that's not required under CEC. If you are required to show POF then remember that any amount of cash over $10,0000CAD needs to declared. You will need the appropriate document showing any goods you will be bringing to Canada at a later date ie furniture, car etc. And obviously your passport with COPR! There maybe other documents that can be added to this list and I'm sure other members would be happy to help. Good luck!

Yes, although, I'm not entirely sure about getting your SIN right there. I don't know if Service Canada operates airport counters on weekends. You may want to call them and find out. If they don't provide service on weekends, you'll have to go to a local office on Monday and get your SIN.

I was/am in a similar situation. Will share my experience for whatever it is worth. Immigration officer (at Toronto) asked us how long we would stay. Told her 4 days and that we need to return to homebase to wrap things up before final move to Canada. She handed us a change-of-address form and said she would not initiate our PR card production process since we need to be inland to receive it. She told us we would need to either get in by road with our COPR (private vehicle) or get a travel document for any other means of entry. We took the form and the following day called IRCC to update our address (have family in Toronto). We headed back as planned. My PR card was mailed to that address a month later. Spouse and child are still waiting for their cards (different issue--needed new photos).

Each person's document requirement will vary depending on their circumstance. At a minimum, you'll need:
  • COPR
    Passport
    POF documentation
Good to carry & good to follow forms with supporting docs (if you intend to bring stuff later on)

Refer to this official source fo rmore info: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/after-checklist.asp[/color]

Good luck!

Hi,

I received COPR last week for myself and my wife. For both of us the CSQ number written is not correct in the document.

In addition to that, my wife COR is India instead she is in Canada with me on dependent Visa.

In this case do I able to flag polling in Canada without any issue, or I need to send my COR to amend before landing

It should be $10,000.

Just FYI, I landed 2 months ago and they didn't ask for POF. The total wait was about 45 mins on a busy Thursday afternoon and the whole process was very smooth.

Good Luck!
