Hello All,

Me and my wife are Canadian PR and my 3yr US Citizen daughter just got DM on our sponsorship application and we are waiting for documents in mail. I heard we have to go out of Canada and 'land'(through border or airport) in Canada to apply for PR card for her.

My daughter is a US citizen but I do not have US visa. We live in Alberta and Can we just go on the Canadian US port of entry(SweetGrass) without entering USA to get the documentation done? Or do I need to get US visa, enter US and come back?

Thanks in Advance!!

Usually US is VISA exempt so you will not be issued one (even if you did need one, of course you would have to have it before you land)

You should received a COPR (conformation on Permanent Residency if that's what you applied for) which you will need to "land"

You have 2 options for "landing" though:

1) You can cross back into the us then over the Canadian border again to land

2) You can make an appointment within Canada at a Citizenship and Immigration (CIC) office near where you live in Canada to land.

after you land the immigration officer will submit paper work for her PR card to be mailed to you in Canada. You DO NOT have to request a card, but you do have to "land"
