Hi everyone,

I came to Canada one year ago, April 2017 on a work visa valid for two years. In April 2018 I received my Confirmation of PR (COPR) and landed as an immigrant. At the time of landing I had two visas in my passport. A visa for landing with a single entry and my work visa with multiple entries valid until April 2019.

When I landed, the officer scratched off my single-entry landing visa, but my other work visa (valid until April 2019) is intact.

I haven't received my PR card yet because of the photos not meeting specifications, I resent the photos a month ago, and have no news on the progress. I called IRCC and they told me the photos haven't been processed yet.

I need to leave Canada for Europe at the end of July 2018 for a family matter and I want to know whether I can travel back by plane using my work visa. Can anyone provide some insight on this situation or give some advice?

Sorry for the lengthy post, thanks in advance!

You need either a valid PR card or a PR Travel Document to return to Canada directly via plane.

Both your visitor visa and work permit were canceled in the system when you landed in Canada and became a PR. Also, you cannot return on the work permit alone - you need to be holding a valid TRV (or valid eTA) as well.

Your other option is to fly to the US and re-enter Canada via a land border using a private vehicle and your COPR.
