Laid off early by current employer, waiting for BOWP, medical coverage?

Hi folks,

I am waiting for my BOWP to be approved, my current WP expires june 30th. My current employer has laid me off beginning of august. If I don't get my new open WP then and I'm not with my new employer yet (will hopefully start a new job by the end of august), will I still be covered under MSP for health care in the meantime?

I was in similar situation & I called alberta health services & they extended it for three months after taking open work permit file no & applied date. No idea about other States.
