Hi,
I am new to this page with so much confusion. In my case i landed in canada on 13th May 2016 on spouse Visa and later got my PR card expiring on 7th July 2021. My wife lives in Canada and has applied for her Citizenship with two kids having Canadian Passport already.
Due to some personal (business) reasons i couldn’t stay in Canada above 450 days in last 4 years and now got a short timeline to complete my 730 days till my PR get expires.

My questions are
1. I lost my first passport, on which i landed in Canada for first time. How can i calculate my exact present days to put in application when i will apply?
2.What will happen if i lack around 100-130 days on time of my Pr expiry date? Will i still be able to apply for renew ?
3.If i stay in canada for rest of 100-130 days after my Pr expires, to complete 730 days, will my old stay will be still counted?

regards,

p.s : Please i am super confused, waiting for professional advises.

  1. You can try contacting CBSA for your entry records, but ultimately it’s up to you to keep track.
  2. If you are short of RO there is always the risk of being reported at entry. Whether you are reported depends on the CBSA officer you meet and your grounds for not completing your RO. Do not attempt to renew your PR card until you are compliant with your RO. Keep in mind that time beyond 5 years will come off your RO count (after May 16, 2021 those days will start coming off from 2016. You will need to stay a full 2 years if your time in Canada was immediately after landing).
  3. See 2. Any time beyond 5 years come off your RO.
Also keep in mind that with your wife and children in Canada you need to report income to CRA every year.
