Hi Folks,

Just one question after obtaining PR card. If I accompany my husband ( he is a Canadian citizen) living outside of Canada, it will be account as the same as I live inside of Canada, right? In this case, I will be eligible to renew my PR card after 5 years. Please clarify and confirm my understanding is correct. Thanks in advanced!

Yes, it counts as time lived in Canada towards your PR. It doesn't count towards citizenship.

You will need to keep detailed records of the time spent with your husband abroad for when you renew. You will also need to apply from in Canada for your renewal. Some members have actually received multiple PRTD's when living overseas with their spouse, but I've only seen a few posts about that, but it may be an alternate option if you don't plan on returning to Canada in the near future.

Thank you so much
