Good evening, everyone!

I've been reading and reading threads and posts in here to learn a bit more of the actual citizenship process only to come to the conclusion that there appears to be no logic at why some applicants get their process finalized in 7 months only (Mississauga and Windsor) while some others do reach the 25 month estimated processing time (Scarborough, oh Scarborough).
I've been thinking that perhaps it's because of your ethnicity, your profession, or perhaps whether you follow hockey or not.
Also perhaps what class of PR you got or if you have family here may play a role in it.
Then to the infamous and feared RQ request we'd all prefer to avoid (which according to their processing times, would push our application to the whopping 35 month mark... ouch!).
I don't really seem to find any threads that make mention of my observations (then again, if I start at page 1, I may indeed find one, but who really has the time and desire, right?).
Leon, I don't see a sticky thread at the top of this topic just like the one you masterfully crafted at the Family Immigration one. But I do see you here, can you please enlighten me and guide me just like you did for a whole bunch of us at Family?.

So here it is:

Mexico, male.
Inland Spousal Sponsorship, married to CC, 2 children born in Canada.
Landed at number 1 in the nation: the one and only, Scarborough (yes, the oh one)!
Not a skilled worker.
Out of the country on 4 diff. times (you know, vacation with the Mrs. and the little ones), under 17 days each.
Definitely not into hockey.

Application mailed - May, 2013
Started working on application and AOR - August, 2013
Nothing else (meaning hopefully no RQ but most likely I'm pipe-dreaming, right?) .

Any thoughts, comments and beliefs, are all very welcome.
Have a good night and may our processes come fast and trouble-free,

Peter.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Most probably your app will not go to Scarborough. If it goes to Missi, you will get test letter in a Month.

Thanx for your posts, guys!

I forgot to say I live in good ol' Scarborough (hence my landing at the one and only)...
But it would be my pleasure to drive to Mississauga instead knowing it's that quick over there.

Waiting since 2011 sounds like you're doing the full monty, nguyentu.

Yeah, man! just bad luck, plus the fact that Vancouver is pretty slow.

I have this theory that the way it works is the officer throws the applications up in the air, and the ones that land on his desk are the ones that make it without the RQ request...

Seems to me what kind of PR you got does indeed matter on how fast or not you are processed...
Another case talks about a lengthy one still going from a Refugee PR.
I think that explains why some are faster than others.
Perhaps Inland PR is not as long.
It would be great if more people could post their own experience but out of 390 who have read this thread, not a single one has contributed...
They're all afraid or something.

It heavily depends on where do you live in Canada..place like Winnipeg it will take at least 24 months...

It is hard to believe the CIC doesn't distribute their work evenly across the country since all the applications are store electronically these days and can be accessed any where. If their is needs to schedule the interview then schedule it at local office.

Bottom line.. they don't care.

I do believe it's on a person by person basis.
Some applications must be from someone who did not leave the country and provided every single thing they ask.
If there's something missing or if you left the country, the red flags go up.
In my case like I said, I left the country 4 times.
And they also asked for previous passports and it's something I didn't keep.
And I'm positive it also depends on what kind of PR you got (mine coming from an inland spousal sponsorship) and where you are from. Meaning that a Western-European, American or Australian might not have as much scrutiny as other nationalities just like it is when applying for PR.

Well, here it is...
Received the notice to appear for the citizenship test yesterday.
It'll be in Mississauga in 2 weeks!
Not bad at all since it doesn't mention anything about the infamous RQ.
Hopefully I won't be asked for it during the interview.
One thing that really makes me a bit upset about (if I can call it that) is that I spent about $200 to get the now needed English Language Proficiency Certificate for non-native English speakers (where I had to wait for my appointment 2 months in advance, good thing I did this before my residency requirement was met, otherwise I would have wasted those 2 additional months waiting) and it says there in the letter that I'm still going to be evaluated on my English speaking ability which is no big deal at all but why do we have to spend that money and time for something you are still going to be evaluated on?.
CIC... glad I'll be done with them for good soon...

Thank you, nguyentu!.
That's why I'm posting my experience with background details (no one else has posted that before). With these details it might shed the light on how the process works for some people.

It is time for me to study that guide.
Best of luck out there to you on your upcoming test and everyone else too!
Peter.

Had my citizenship written test yesterday in Mississauga at 4 pm and passed!
Everything went so swell and smooth that I even got on the spot an Oath Ceremony date for next week.

I hope you guys use this thread to post your own background particulars to help you determine how fast your own processes will be and not just dates that everybody is so adamant in posting (date of when they received your application, when they sent you notices for something and so forth) which are of no use in understanding the citizenship process.

Over and out,
Peter.
