I am brand new to the forum, which has helped a lot so far, so thank you to you all! I have a lot of questions to ask, so please bear with me!!

My partner and I are looking into permanent residency for me. My partner is Canadian and I am from the UK, we met in Thailand in October 2007 and started living together since March 2008 (we are not married). Throughout the last 2 years we have lived in Australia and Thailand. We can get proof of living together and have an Australian bank account together. are looking to move to Vancouver . We have been together for over 2 years but have not married. We came back into Canada in March of this year. My boyfriend has started working casually until he gets a permanent job, so has no proof of income over the last 12months. He can show his payslips if this will help? Will this harm his application of sponsorship? Is there a minimum income he has to have? What about letters from his parents saying they will help us out if we run into problems?

I entered on a tourist visa and now we've decided that we want to stay in Canada. We want to put down that we are living together now in Canada. Can I do this while I am on a tourist visa? I want to apply outbound as I hear it's quicker, can I do this?

Also, because I have lived in Australia, I need to obtain a police certificate from them. This requires me to get fingerprints done. Does anyone know how to get these done? I'm in Vancouver. They need to be official.

In people experience, what is the best 'proof' can submit. As we have moved around a lot, we do not have that much paperwork. We do have a bank account as I said before and we can get copies of our rental agreements from Thailand and Australia, letters from friends and family are not a problem, as are photographs. We live in furnished accommodation, so haven't bought anything for the flat and everything is included (hydro etc)

This is all very confusing and I am worried that we're going to be separated!

Please help!

Hello,

I have just completed my Spouse visa which is not the same as the one you will need, however I thought I still might be able to help with some of your questions.

I also had to get an Australian police check done:
Immigration Info: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/australia.asp
Aussie Site: http://www.afp.gov.au/business/national_police_checks.html

I got the fingerprints taken in my local station is Scotland and had some trouble when they got to Australia. A couple of tips, make sure they are clear, mine were sent back first time. This girl was fantastic and i would recommend you get in touch with her rachel.merz@asp.gov.au. Rachel works in the Australian AFP office and was a great help. Even let her know that your application is on its way.

In terms of proof, i am not sure if your visa is the same as ours, but we created a document of our history together and then matched photos to each event, from the very beginning up to your current situation.

If i can think of anything else i will let you know.

Dave.
