Hi,

I've just heard from a friend of mine who has applied for CEC through his corporate immigration lawyer that it takes 4-5 months before the canadian consulate receives our medical results... is this true ???

If that's the case, then what happens to those people who haven't received any medical requests and have applied for CEC for 14 months now :(
I thought CEC was supposed to be fast, but from the looks of it, it seems like it would have probably been a better idea if I'd applied through FSW.

Also any body who applied in May last year, heard something from CIC ??? Please keep us updated

Thanks

I'd recommend those applicant to send a specific inquiry message to VO.
But, no applying through FSW won't be good due to new regulation which will start on July 1. http://www.cicnews.com/2011/06/breaking-news-announced-canadian-immigration-programs-06988.html

A number of CEC applicants have received passport requests around 2 months after they did their medicals. I don't doubt that it can take 4 months, but it's not typical.

I would suggest doing your medicals "in advance" (though calling it in advance is strange if you're at 14 months). Many people have done this and it definitely saves time. The worst that can happen is the medicals expire and you're out a few hundred $, but in your case that would only happen if total time exceeds 26 months.

Hi,

Could you please guide me on how to do medicals in advance for myself (and my wife who lives overseas)?
Just looking for the procedure and the forms which are required.

Moreover, my wife is in Lahore, Pakistan and I am under the impression that she'll do her medical there and then mail them to me. Once I get her medical results, I can then forward them to NY office where my application is under process.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards

Designated Medical Practitioners (DMPs) send the results directly to Ottawa - you can find a DMP here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medical.aspx

But while it may be possible for you to "do it in advance" (Canadian DMPs will do this), I've never heard of a DMP outside Canada that will do it without the official forms. You may as well wait until you get the official request, because you'll have to wait anyway for your wife to be able to do the medical in Pakistan.

CHC Buffalo issued my medical request on May 04, 2011. I received it on May 30 (you read it right - May 30). I did my medicals on June 04. The DMP sent my report on June 17, Ottawa received it on June 20.

I received passport request on July 07. So for my case, I would say it did not take long to get the PPR after the medical.
