Just got Visitor status extended for 7 months - Can I leave Canada and come back

I'm a US citizen that just went through the visitor extension process so that I might reside with my Canadian partner long enough to apply for common-law PR status in the future. Thankfully, my application was just accepted! I have a few questions however and can find no answers to them specifically.

1. I have a visitor record stapled to my passport from the last time we traveled together outside Canada. It was set for me to leave June 6th. My extension was granted till the end of this year, so what must I do with the visitor record? Do I keep it in my passport and hand it off when I leave? (which leads to:)

2. We are planning to travel together to the US for a few visits, most of which are family related. (important weddings and so forth). Am I able to leave Canada with him using these extension acceptance letters and be readmitted to Canada without an issue when I return? The letter states my "temporary resident" status has been approved. What are the rules for a temporary resident?

Thanks so much for the help! :)

1.- You have to do nothing with the previous one. Carry both.

2.- Once you leave Canada your visitor extension is voided. You will be reassessed on re-entry.

Thank you for your reply.

When you say "reassessed", do you know more about this? There will be a baby born in my family that I must travel back for, and a wedding that I must attend in the US during my visiting time. My partner will be traveling with me to these events. Do the border officers see in the records that I was granted extension and just base it off that, or would I be in for trouble since I've already been in Canada for nearly 6 months (Which is why I applied for extension in the first place)

Thanks for any help you can offer me.

The CBSA officer will evaluate your whole case. As it seems you have done all things correctly and disclosed your intentions to become a PR, then I would assume there will be no major problems... but be sure to carry with you all relevant info in case he asks to see it.
