Just got Passport Request Letter Today!

Just got a call from my wife and told me that she received her passport request letter from New Delhi office. All photos and cards were also returned. Hopefully a few more weeks and she will have her visa.


Timeline: Application mailed on Mar 2,2009
Application arrived at CPC-M on Mar 5,2009
Decision made on Mar 18,2009
Letter received on Mar 24,2009
PR in process as of Apr 7,2009
Passport Requested May 16,2009

I just have 1 question if you may. You said photos and cards were also returned, how did that happened, did they mail it along with the letter, or they said that they will give them to your wife when she go to pick up the stamped passport.
N.B. that was sooooo fast, I guess people must stop nagging about New Delhi office by saying it is slow…hopefully Damascus office will be contagious and send me a passport request..

The photos and cards were returned back to her with the passport request letter.

Thank you for your reply, but I steel have question.
Did you got the letter by normal mail so you were able to got all the original, or by secure mail like Fedex or DHL?
The issue is that I sent lot of original paper to Damscus office, birth certificate, civil status, marriage certificate...and I want them back.
So I wanted to know the procedure they usualy follow, cause If I am asked to send my passport, I will send it by DHL, but if they don't return to me the original along with the Passport letter request, I will have to go to Damscus to pick up the passport and the original

The documents such as the marriage certificate are normally not returned, CIC keeps them. The only things they send back (if any) are things like cards, photos, boarding passes.
I'm not sure if they would return the documents even if you asked them for it and if they would, it would probably take a while. Why do you want them back?

The letter, photos and cards came back by just normal mail but my wife did have to sign for them. Also I am not sure but I think you should wait and see if they send the orginal documents back to you with the letter. If not you might want to call the office or maybe drop by and see if they can make photocopies of them and give back your orginals.

as far ur wife old passport i think she should send police report along with if she has any photocpy of her old passport

Well friends, you made me happy,
Because I have photocopies of everything I sent, and I have original copies as well from the important paper, marriage certificate, civil status...and I didn't send original photos, they were digital and the lawyer print them ,
that means, if I got the passport request, I can send it by DHL and get it back as by DHL from Damscus without going there.
Because I thought that it is mandatory for them to return the original document to us, and that we should get them personlay when picking up the passport.
