Hi all...

I was just about to seal the envelope and mail my wife's Canadian Permanent Residence application...
Then yesterday I just found out my wife is pregnant. ;D

Now I'm unsure of how to fill out the forms which ask about my dependents...
With the processing times of Permanent Residence applications, my wife will probably give birth before it's finished processing....

I'm really unsure of how to proceed with this.... and I can't find any info in this forum regarding this issue...

anybody here have any experience with this?

Congratulations!
For now, nothing changes. You will need to notify IRCC when the baby is born. It may cause some delays as the medicals are generally delayed until the baby is born, as most doctors will not do the X-ray when a woman is pregnant. Some will do it, but that is up to you to decide and discuss with the doctor.

There are no dependents to fill in yet, unless you already have children.

Thanks MilsAway...
to follow up with your answer... Is an X-ray mandatory for the medical check report?

You can typically skip it for concerns of the unborn child... just have your doctor write a note as to why. Bonus, you can use the child as an additional proof of relationship. I sincerely doubt CIC would refuse you because you didn't blast your child with X-Rays...

the xray is a requirement to pass the medical. the application won't be rejected, it will be held until the applicant can get the xray done, so it's likely the application will be delayed. the xray looks for TB, and it unlikely IRCC will waive the requirement.

You can't skip the x-ray, you can delay it. Meaning app basically goes on hold at some point until the applicant gives birth, she completes the x-ray portion of medical exam, and the dependents are added to app.

Nobody will be issued PR without going through x-ray as part of medical.

Thanks so much for all your replies!
So sounds like I'll just have to delay the x-ray and just say why.... fair enough...

so just to make sure... I can still mail out my application as is right now (without filling in dependants)...
and later when my kid is born, i can just add "dependant" information later to the application?

Just make sure to go back to Form IMM5332E question #10 and check "yes", plus enter the due date.
Congratulations on the new baby :)
