So my fiance's father seems to think that I have to be in Canada for a certain amount of time before we can get married. I haven't read this ANYWHERE. I am planning on visiting him at the end of the month and we have been toying with the idea of just getting married while I am there visiting and then applying for sponsorship (Inland with a OWP) I'll still have my job back here in the states but they've already told me that once everything is said and done, I can transfer once I have the work permit or if I decide to come back, I can come back to work and then transfer later.

I know that was a bit of a ramble, but really, I just need to know if I have to be in Canada for a certain amount of time before I can marry my fiance.

As an aside, if you are going the inland route I assume you know you'll have to remain in Canada. You can't leave and go to the US to wait out the processing of the OWP.

Yeah, I know that I'd have to stay in Canada, which is cool with me. Three years long distance has made me ready to be there. Thankfully I have a job that is willing to give me a personal leave of absence until I can legally transfer into Canada. They wont make me put in notice or go through the rehiring process or anything.
