Hello,

My employers offered me a promotion last week to be the bar/service manager for the restaurant that i work in with the intention of sponsoring me (my current visa ends in may 2014), i did have a question though.

How does it work with regards to pay? Does it have to be a certain amount or just any type of salary?

I ask this question as i have heard from a lawyer that it has to be $16 an hour (which my GM doesn't even make) and other information (from the hrsdc.gc.ca website) that i need to be paid what a canadian would be paid. which in this case should be around $11/$12 an hour, which is what my predecessors made.

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks

They will need to get you a new work permit, so they will need to get an LMO. and wages matter when applying for an LMO. as far as I know. (I've done my fair share of applying LMO's for myself btw.) The wage that needs to be in the lmo is the median wage that is according to hrsdc and is computed according to the position as well as the location of the job.

Goodluck!
