Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
For IT guys who have landed in Canada or are landing in Canada, I believe the job prospects are promising. I believe this is because of 2 reasons
1.) In IT space the skills are transferrable. You code in Java, C or any other programming language same way across the world. Same goes for testing, administration, project management, support in IT field that skills are transferrable
2) Most candidates that I came across have decent English skills as they appear in IELTS before getting the PR and most of them has worked for Europe or US either from onsite or from a offshore location

I have been involved in mentoring some new immigrants for Canadian job market and found few things that may help new immigrants from IT background
1.) Over the period of time you have done many roles in IT space like development, BA, being a lead managing client, a PM etc. Please chosse what you want to do in Canada out of these roles. Create a resume targetted to that particular role. If you feel that even though you were a PM in last role but you are more suited for BA role, create a resume that can convey you are a solid BA
2.) Skills are transferrable, the gap is Canadaian experience or soft skills in most case. As you land in Canada join Coop, volunteer opportunities once you land in canada to bridge the Canadian exp or soft skill gap
3.) Institutions like Access employment, emploment Ontario etc help you bridge the soft skills gap
4.) Look out for a mentor in Candian market, TRIEC is a good resource. You can rech out to some on you know to give you 20-25 hours in 3 months as mentor
4.) Prepare for Candian style intterview. The interview here is more soft skill based, behavioral and very little technical. If you do not get an interview it depends on lot of things and some which are beyond your control, but if you flunk more that 3 interviews, it is a sin. It means you have not prepared well. if you need more information on how to prepare for interviews, search for various thread on this forum, one that I recommend is http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/something-which-i-learnt-in-canada-t59921.0.html
5.) Some recruiters, some time exploit new immigrants in my personal opinion, but are very goood source of getting you the first job. But more helpful will be people you know through linkedin, mentorship program or intership program or volunteer opportunities

If you need any more information or help in your job search in IT space please feel free to reach out to me.

thanks Ankit, for the useful note.

Hello Ankit,
Really loved your post. . . I am also an IT person and an immigration applicant.. .I have experience in SQL programming as well as in Software testing.
I am looking for job in alberta these days. . . .hope luck helps me...

Guys,
when we migrate here to Canada or any other country for that matter we should expect some hardship and as well as some bad experience which might shook your belief, but trust me I for sure know that Canada is one of the best. Sometimes it takes little but more time then we thought but at the end if an educated person truely believes and tries his/her best success will follow.
Thats my tought.

anyway, i posted here many times before..if you are an IT guy (SAP/Oracle/Peoplesoft/Java/.net or any IT skill) go visit www.kbmit.com and send your resume and i am sure if your skill are right this company will be able to place you in less then 2 months...i am saying this based on my knowledge.
The name of the company is KBM IT Solutions and they are based in Calgary,Alberta.

cheers
