As a subject matter expert in messaging solutions, you will be an integral part of the Network Operations Centre team, using your strong background in Microsoft technologies to troubleshoot, implement and maintain a global messaging & collaboration environment. You are energized by working with the latest technologies and quickly assimilating new information that you will receive in classroom based training, internal technical briefings and independent research. Operating an environment where high-availability means zero downtime doesn't intimidate you. You can apply creativity balanced with sound judgment in time-critical situations and can communicate effectively in stressful scenarios. You believe that it's obvious that the job is only done when the customer is satisfied and you find it natural to go the extra mile whenever you can.

What does a day in the Ceryx NOC look like?

You will be challenged daily to balance support related activities and project based tasks. Responding quickly to system alerts and escalated issues from the helpdesk with accurate solutions is a priority. You will be asked to install, deploy, configure and perform maintenance on services and equipment located in one of our 8 production facilities. Throughout the day you will be communicating frequently with helpdesk agents, project managers, account managers, architects and your teammates to ensure that all activities are coordinated efficiently. Thorough written documentation of activities and planned changes to the system are a constant obligation. Diligently managing 3rd party escalations to Microsoft, RIM and other solution vendors within the constraints of our guaranteed service levels while performing your daily duties is expected. After hours on-call duties are performed on a rotating schedule when you may receive escalations from the night shift NOC team or the 24x7 customer helpdesk. Occasional travel to our data centers in Montreal and New York may be required and more regular trips to data centers located within the GTA may also be required. Planned weekend activity during scheduled change windows occurs regularly and is based on your specific area of responsibility and expertise.

What do I need to be successful?


Successful candidates have a bachelor degree in a technical field (computer science, engineering), MCITP and several years of top-level experience trouble-shooting MS Exchange, BES and SharePoint. Working in a large enterprise or for a hosted service provider as a messaging expert gives great candidates a leg up because they understand the issues and appropriate solutions for large scale technical environments. Most stand out candidates have battle-tested complimentary skills in several operational areas like compliance archiving, virtualization (ESX), SAN storage management, SQL server, Linux, firewall and network management. Glowing references from previous places of employment with complex environments and related premium technologies are a must.
