"So What Do We Think We Know about Express Entry?

1. No more “first in first out” processing – candidates will be given an ITA if the government feels they will be the most likely to succeed economically. This translates into only candidates with an approved job offer (in most cases, an approved “Skilled” LMIA) will be selected. However, there may be a loop hole for those first out of the gate. I say “may” because we are not 100% sure; however, TFWs in Canada working on LMIA exempt work permits (NAFTA, Intra-company Transfers, IEC etc.) may rank high enough without an LMIA initially because there will not be sufficient numbers of LMIA based TFWs to fill all the spots.

HELPFUL HINT: if you are working in Canada on an LMIA exempt WP, get your act together now and start preparing to submit your profile immediately upon the launch of the program. You might just get drawn."

cited from bit.ly/1HBxw4o, not sure how true it will be.

The question is how, if the job offer is exempted for the LMIA?

It's very simple. No LMIA for the job offer = no 600 points. There is no exemption under EE.

No, he is not. It's clearly mentioned on CIC website that a job with LMIA gets 600 points. The only exception is those already have LMO/LMIA from existing TFW Permit and currently working in Canada. They can use the existing LMO to claim the 600 points.

The point is that initially there will be fewer people with valid LMIAs to give the extra 600 points, the same with PNP since existing PNP holders can't use their PNP nomination as has been discussed in other threads.

Meaning that in the first couple of draws more people who have points from the base 600 would be selected for ITA, such as those with current Open work permits where no LMIA was required.

No, even they have to get a new LMIA to get 600 points for current job in Canada.
Should point out it's been discussed already that both LMOs and LMIAs are valid for EE. See scenario 2: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/employers/express-entry-presentation-fall2014.asp

Hi Everyone,

I did my Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (4 year program), graduated last year. I'm working for almost 9 months and job is related to my field. I did talk to few consultants for my immigration as I will be eligible to apply for EE after 1 year of experience. Most of them said that I don't need LMIA as international students with post grad work permit and job are exempt from it. My question is how I will be able to get ITA with such a low score as I see the lowest point is approx 453 till now. Did anyone get ITA yet who is an international student with similar score and exempt from LMIA? When I ask consultants, they don't give proper answer to me. I believe my score is around 380 or something. Will appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks
